Oil and water do not mix with each
other. Oil companies use different methods to separate them. Oil tends to get
distributed in the water, which makes it more difficult to separate the two
components. Therefore, separators are deployed to achieve this separation
process efficiently.
Oil contains three different
components, each having different density; water, gas and oil. Gas present in
oil remains at top, water settles and bottom and oil floats on water, any solid
component if present, settles down at bottom. Separators allow all these
components to move slowly and separate them from each other.
The separators are very useful in
various types of industries and are very helpful in keeping ecosystem pollution
free. They effectively remove hydrocarbons and grease from waste-water. There
are various types of separators like
High pressure separators Texas and
low pressure separators Texas. The choice of separator depends upon its
application.
Separators can be classified based on
their function as
- Two-phase units – gas
is separated from the liquid with the gas and liquid being discharged
separately.
- Three-phase
separators – fluid is separated into gas, oil, and water with all the
three components being discharged separately.
Based on their operating platforms, the
separators used by various companies are classified into three categories as

to 700 psi.

industry to which it is to be installed and the quality of waste generated.
