Importance of Line Heaters in Oil Industry

Explanation in short
Line heaters are very important if you know about oil and gas industry. The line heaters help you to keep the optimal temperature of the liquid in the tank which otherwise forms chemical reactions with temperature variations. It helps to prevent the formation of hydrates within your tank. The process temperature is regulated with the help of heaters. The downstream equipment’s pressure gets steadily increased due to this thereby making it efficient.
Constructional details
Line heater consists of the following equipment:
·         A coil
·         A shell
·         A fire-tube

Operation of heater
The coil is utilised during the flow of process stream. The coil is dipped inside the upper part of liquid bath medium of the shell. The flow stream is heated before reducing the pressure. The fire-tube is used for burning of fuel gas. The heat of fire-tube goes to the medium, and then to the coil. And thus, finally reaches the process stream.
When the stream passes through pressure-lowering areas, the temperature remains constant throughout due to line heaters. Thus, the line heaters prevent choking of liquid and keep the flow moving in any conditions.
When the stream passes through the choke, temperature drops are likely to occur, thus the oil can get condensed and jammed. This chokes up the entire systems that work on oil and everything will just stop functioning without emollient. Thus line heaters are very crucial in this regard.
